Revolutionizing the future of sustainable energy

Solar Farm in Teluk Kalong, Kemaman

The large scale solar photovoltaic farm is managed by a subsidiary of EPIC Berhad, EPIC Solar Sdn. Bhd. with a capacity of 18.5 MW. The 28-hectare solar farm is located at Teluk Kalong Industrial Park, Kemaman and employs the use of fully sustainable green technologies.

The 18.5 MW power generated by the plant is transferred directly to Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) through the national grid system. These activities are demonstrative efforts of EPIC Berhad in diversifying beyond oil and gas business.

Transition towards renewable energy growth

Installation of Rooftop Solar

The Terengganu Inc Group green energy initiative commenced through collaborative engagement with GSPARX Sdn. Bhd., Ocean Vantage Engineering Sdn. Bhd. and Terengganu Skills Development Centre (TESDEC) by installing rooftop solar on premises within the Group.

The environmental approach was spearheaded by Primula Beach Hotel (capacity: 0.3 MW), Permint Plywood Sdn. Bhd. (capacity: 0.13 MW) and PESAKA Timber Sdn. Bhd. (capacity: 0.32 MW)

Turning waste into new opportunity

3 Biogas Plants installed

Terengganu Inc Group also adopted green technology with the installation of 3 biogas plants at TDM Kemaman, TDM Sungai Tong and Ladang Rakyat Trengganu Bukit Bandi Palm Oil Mill.

The biogas power plant will provide long-term environmental care while also helping to develop the existing treatment system of oil palm mills to avoid polluting the environment.

The 3 plants with an investment of RM56.0 million have the potential to produce a total of 25,000,000 kWh of renewable energy each year.

Ramping up Terengganu's EV ecosystem

Primula EV Charging Station

Terengganu Inc is proud to take on a leading role in providing green technology through the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging station available at Primula Beach Hotel.

With a capacity of 7.5 kW AC, Primula Beach Hotel is the third location in Terengganu that provides the facility for EV users to recharge their vehicle, after Tanjung Vista Hotel in Kuala Terengganu and Awana Kijal in Kemaman

Promote application of sustainable energy

Solar Street Light

EPIC Solar Sdn. Bhd. (a subsidiary of EPIC Berhad) that specializes in solar photovoltaic technology for Malaysia’s East Coast Region introduced solar street light, that is powered by photovoltaic panels and producing clean and sustainable energy.

The solar street light was installed internally at Port Kemaman (18 units) and currently open for commercial and residential applications.

This initiative offer environmental-friendly solutions to communities, cost effective and reduce dependency on the grid for electricity.

Innovation for sustainable mobility

EPIC Solar Buggy Car

EPIC Solar Car (ESCAR) materialize the collaboration of EPIC Solar Sdn. Bhd. (ESSB) with University College TATI (UC TATI) which aimed at promoting sustainable development by reducing carbon emissions and promoting renewable energy.

The vehicle is powered by solar energy and has no fuel usage, making it an eco-friendly alternative to conventional vehicles.

It was first developed for operational use at ESSB’s solar farm, with plans to expand its usage to the Kemaman Supply Base areas and potentially to be used as a tourist vehicle.

Current Renewable Energy Generation (kWh)

Energy efficiency approach for sustainable development

LED Lighting

For essential services at Terengganu Inc Group such as KMI Hospitals and hotels that operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the operation requires substantial amount of electricity, such as through lighting.

Replacement of conventional light bulbs with energy efficient LED lights in all KMI Hospitals, Permai Hotel Kuala Terengganu, Primula Beach Hotel, Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge, TDM Berhad and TI Properties office are part of the initiatives implemented to promote sustainable energy consumption at operation building.

Strengthen the ISO Certification: Energy Management System

SOP Energy Efficiency

With the current environmental issues and strategies for reducing energy consumption, Ladang Rakyat Trengganu Sdn. Bhd. take proactive action by establishing Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) related to energy efficiency at its palm oil mill.

The SOP includes the requirement and compliance in achieving and maintaining the ISO certification and closely monitored by appointed working committee.

Eco-energy initiatives at the plantation's operations

Solar-powered Electric Fences and Timer

TDM Plantation Sdn. Bhd. and Ladang Rakyat Trengganu Sdn. Bhd. translate their sustainability initiatives in addressing the issue of wildlife encroachment and electricity consumption with the installation of solar-powered electric fences at the plantation estates.

By utilizing solar panels to increase energy efficiency and cost savings, TDM Plantation also uses solar panels to power up the water influent meter for measuring water outflow from the mill at the wastewater treatment plant at the Kemaman Complex.

Structured approach on monitoring energy usage

War on Waste (WOW)

Through sustainable management resources, TDM Berhad via TDM Plantation Sdn. Bhd. implemented ‘War on Waste’, a close monitoring on usage of electricity, water, stationary, paper, petrol, and diesel in each operational unit at TDM Plantation.

TDM believes that continues of monitoring the usage would ensure the efficiency of the utilisation at estate operations and HQ.

Innovative Water Management

Rainwater/ Air-Conditioner Water Reservoir

Water management controls water resources to ensure its efficiently allocated to users and minimizing the impact on the environment.

Sustainability initiatives is taken by TDM Plantation Sdn Bhd by practicing rainwater harvesting via collection tanks.  Meanwhile, TI Properties connect a rainwater tank at the top of the office building to be used for the washroom.

Other than rainwater, Permai Hotel Kuala Terengganu created an air-conditioner water reservoir to collect and reuse the water for plants and cleaning windows
